14 Years ago in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand

there were no cellphones or digital cameras. Immigration by the Mekhong River was a much smaller more casual place, where Vietnamese delegations could arrive after normal hours and be greeted by their Lao and Thai counterparts without all pomp and ceremony required now a days.
The promenade was mostly grass with plenty of plants and walkways.
I guess a fair few of the old ladies are older now, but the flower seller at the market is younger and there are still plenty of flower sellers there.
For sure Nakhon Phanom is  bigger city now, but better I really don't know
