So the Buddha tells Kassapa about building That Phanom, in what is now Nakhon Phanom Province, from a hilltop in what is now Sakon Nakhon Province and a Khmer ruin on a hilltop in the middle of the Phu Phan Mountains

I always found this connection quiet interesting a bit of confluence of Buddhism and Khmer. And when the Khmer King converted to Mahayana Buddhism the Khmer structures in Isaan had a Buddhist affiliation as opposed to their earlier Hindu.
So maybe I will visit That Phanom for Aslahla Puja
