okay back to "Things to do in Khon Kaen" by The Lonely Planet Guide They mention Wat That, Khon Kaen City Museum, Wat Jeen Beung Kaen Nakhon, , Wat Po Ban Nontan, Mhesak, Spirit House and Mahathat Kaen Nakhon as places and Mud, Plapanoy and Bualuang as Restaurants.
First of all the correct name of Wat Jeen Beung Kaen Nakhon is "Pu Khru Yen Shrine, it is not a temple.
They fail to mention the Gardens and Qwaan Yin shrine across the street.
They also fail Beung Kaen Nakhon, the lake and park that is at the center of all the places mentioned today. They fail to mention the many restaurants and food stalls around the lake. And they ignore the music that can be heard at many of the restaurants, And if you are going to ignore the majority of what goes on in this neighborhood you might as well ignore that fact that mornings and evenings one can take part in aerobics at many locations around the lake.
Another site, the Chao Por Mahesak Shrine not the Mhesak Spitit House. This is Thailand and there are many spirit houses, but as you can see this is not one.
All in all the main failure of these listings is ignoring the thing that brings them all together and makes it worth a half day or at least a few hour visit to the neighborhood and that is Beung Kaen Nakhon.
Also why isn't Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon mapped?
I would grade their listing and method of presenting them with another well earned very low 3 out of 10
